Anger Management
Program Exercise
One session reviewing the program workbook, discussing the activities involved in the program, and discussing an initial educational lesson.
Four sessions discussing the concept of “Prevention.” These sessions focus on changing thoughts to prevent a harmful reaction to anger.
Four sessions discussing the concept of “Containment.” These sessions focus on how to stop anger from escalating to an unmanageable level.
Four sessions discussing the concept of “Resolution.” These sessions focus developing conflict resolution skills and making amends for angry behavior.

Enrolling In Anger Management
To enroll in the Anger Management program at Emerge, call our office at (617) 547-9879 or email us at [email protected], We will conduct a brief screening by asking your reasons for coming to Emerge, and then we will set up a time for the program orientation. Our Anger Management program is 14 sessions long. Sessions occur once per week, and Emerge charges $40 per session. The total cost of the program, including orientation, is $585. We do not accept insurance. Anger Management clients may pay with cash, money orders, or with a credit card. We do not accept personal checks. Program Goals
Understand the difference between anger as an emotion and angry behavior which leads to harmful choices towards yourself and others Understand negative self-talk and how such thoughts work to escalate emotions and choices Demonstrate the ability to prevent anger from building by monitoring thoughts Demonstrate knowledge of how to contain anger in the moment and calm down and make choices that are not harmful to yourself and/or others Understand where your anger comes from and what situations you use to give yourself an excuse to hurt yourself and/or others learn conflict resolution skills Start to understand how to make amends for choices made out of anger and negative self-talk Start to learn how to reduce anger |

Program Curriculum
The Emerge Responsible Fatherhood Program follows a 12-session group curriculum adapted from the Caring Dads curriculum that was originally developed by the Changing Ways abuser education program. The goals of the curriculum are to increase fathers’ awareness of children’s needs at different ages, to give fathers skills to become better parents, and to help fathers become more responsible co-parents with the mothers of the children.
Things Lessons include:
1. What we’ve learned about parenting from our fathers
2. Knowing your child? (Quiz)
3. Positive parenting skills, Part 1 & 2
4. Children’s developmental abilities at various ages
5. Setting a positive example for children in supporting the children’s mother
7. Your parenting style and its effects on children
8. Recognizing the differences between abuse, punishment and discipline
9. Child management strategies
10. Child neglect and deprivation
11. Identifying how children are affected by domestic violence
